Ghost

Creating a timeless design is challenging, but the key is always simplicity.

Giles Taylor. Director of Design

The principle of delivering simplicity out of complexity runs throughout Ghost. Everything is designed, engineered and crafted to be so invitingly approachable, so simple, it encourages you to regard either car as appropriate for any occasion.

The grille and Spirit of Ecstasy immediately mark out Phantom and it has a rare sense of scale and occasion that makes it a truly modern interpretation of a Rolls-Royce. Not only is it the signature Rolls-Royce, it is also the very essence of the marque.

The classic 2:1 proportions of the wheel to body height is key to Rolls-Royce DNA. You can choose from three different wheel options with two different finishes, each with their own special character. Each features unique self-righting wheel centres that always display the Rolls-Royce monogram the right way up. It's typical of the attention we give to the simplest details that make our cars so special..

This detail creates an extra sense of theatre for passengers as they arrive or embark at their destination. The simple yet contemporary interior offers expanses of soft full grain leather, natural wood veneers and soft wool carpets.

The hand-stitched leatherwork takes over two weeks to complete, with nine hides required for each interior. Pre-shrunk and drum-dyed so the colour permeates right through, the soft, supple full-grain leather won't squeak or crack. Choose from a wide range of mono and contrast leather colour combinations.

"I look for burrs and complex grains that add interest," says Dan Austin, Veneer Specialist.

Each set of veneers comes from a single tree, creating a simple, seamless flow from facia to rear compartment. Select from classic burrs like Walnut or choose straight-grained Malabar for a more contemporary ambience. There are also crossbanded options to choose from such as Waterfall Bubinga with Lemon Satinwood. Each piece is hand-polished to create a deep flawless shine.

During the day the Night Vision System remains out of sight behind a veneered panel. As darkness falls a discreet infrared camera in the grille can detect the body heat of pedestrians up to 300 metres away. Their thermal image is clearly shown on the Control Centre Display, giving you plenty of time to slow down and pass them safely.
